Tired of doing edge to edge? Have you ever wanted to layout a design for your whole quilt? It’s easy to plan with a few simple steps. We’ll start with exploring how to find one motif then breaking it down into pieces for every area of your quilt. Select and customize designs to complement each area, and learn how to accomplish the quilting quickly and easily. Classic fillers and modern designs will all be explored.

Topics include:
• Creating a custom plan for your quilt using Preview Paper
• Learn how to make borders fit without measuring
• Marking your quilt so your design is consistent
• Develop your own design library of background fills
• How to get your designs marked on the quilt

HQ EVENT2 I CAN QUILT ANYTHING ON MY LONGARM Thursday, February 20, 2020 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to see what longarm can really do? It’s just a big sewing machine – you can do all kinds of projects on your longarm! Everything from piecing, doing a project from start to finish, and adding texture to unique fabrics can all be accomplished on a longarm. With great tips and quick projects, this class will give you lots of great ideas for your next project.

Topics Include:
• Piecing on the frame – square foot
• Binding on the frame
• Using couching to add texture and definition
• Make a small bag from start to finish
• Project show and tell

HQ EVENT3 THE PRO-STITCHER - Friday, February 21, 2020 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Pro-Stitcher is an intuitive computer-guided quilting system designed especially for use with Handi Quilter longarm quilting machines. User-friendly and simple to operate, the step-by-step process for each function is easy and fun. Whether finishing your own quilts or consider a quilting business, come see the elegant and precise quilting you can accomplish with Pro-Stitcher. New owners – start here!

Part 1 Topics Include:
• Overview of support resources available on-line
• Overview of menu and basic functions and design catalog
• Place a block design using Skew, Resize, XForm and Align
• Demonstration of the Pro-Stitcher Simulator
• Overview of Art & Stitch

Part 2 Topics include:
• What’s the difference between Reposition, Nudge and Drag and Drop
• The many ways to describe an Area on your quilt
• Using Skew 1 vs Skew 2
• Set up, crop, wrap and advance edge to edge designs
• Quilt straight lines the easy way with Move or Channel Locks

HQ EVENT4 Pro-Stitcher: Expanding What You Know (update with latest features) - Saturday, February 22, 2020 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Ready to move on to some more advanced Pro-Stitcher techniques? We’ll focus on more advanced techniques to take full advantage of all of the great features of Pro-Stitcher. We’ll set up a border, including corners, skew blocks to fit in any size of area, and set up edge to edge designs with wraps. Digitizing your own designs is a snap with Record or Mark and setting up triangles is even easier with our Triangle Skew.

 Topics Include:
• Borders with corners and chunking methods
• Using all the Modify tab features
• Chunking borders and quilting designs larger than your throat space
• Triangle Skew
• Digitizing your designs with Record
• Overview of Pro-Stitcher Designer

Instructor: Megan Best
Instructor Bio: Megan Best has always loved fabrics and made her first quilt while in high school. She continued to foster this love throughout her education, achieving degrees in apparel design and merchandising/textiles. Thousands of quilts later, she still loves to create. Megan?s career in the fabric industry includes experience in fabric stores, retail management, quilt shop ownership and as a professional longarm quilter. She excels in both computerized and free-motion quilting, winning many ribbons at local and national shows. She quilts on both her HQ Fusion? and HQ Avant??, both with Pro-Stitcher?. Megan?s teaching career includes experience as a college instructor, a quilting teacher for local guilds and retail shops, and an instructor at national and international machine quilting shows.
