Instructor Bio: Debbie Gendusa, a certified Quilt In A Day teacher, received her certification from Eleanor Burns in the mid-1980s. For several years, she taught Quilt In A Day classes at all Cloth World (now JoAnns) locations in the New Orleans area and exclusively at the Quilting Bee Quilt Shop in Metairie, LA. Debbie and her husband, Charles, moved to Las Vegas in 1989 where she completed both her Bachelors and Masters degrees in education at UNLV. She also taught quilt classes in Las Vegas and continued teaching in Metairie during her Christmas and summer breaks. In 2005-2007, Hurricane Katrina and the death of her husband interrupted her quilting career for several years. Debbie is now living in Independence, LA, just outside of New Orleans, next door to her oldest daughter Christy and husband, John, and their three children. Debbie currently teaches Quilt In A Day classes at two Hobby Lobby locations in the North Shore of Lake Ponchatrain. In her spare time, she designs her own quilt patterns, is a longarm quilter, and enjoys membership at Going To Pieces Quilt Guild.
